Captain Ed Davidson

Vice President, Flight and System Operations / Porter Airlines, Inc

Captain Ed Davidson is currently the Vice President of Flight and System Operations for the third largest airline in Canada, Porter Airlines, Inc. He leads the airline’s departments concerned with line flying, cabin crew and system operations control. Within those departments his oversight extends to pilot and cabin crew selection and training as well as the management and integration of the carrier’s daily system operations.

Immediately before this assignment, Ed was the Senior Vice President of the Aerospace Practice at Tetra Tech AMT a world-wide aerospace and IT consulting firm based in Arlington, Virginia, USA. Prior to that post, he was the Senior Vice President, Fleet for Emirates Airline and Group, the international airline of the United Arab Emirates and lived for almost 5 years in Dubai while based at the company’s corporate headquarters. He has former service with IATA’s Montreal office as their Director, Global Safety and was the Director of Flight Safety and a Base Chief Pilot while at Northwest Airlines.

Ed is a graduate of Pennsylvania Military College in the United States with a BA in International Relations and undertook executive education at the London Business School. He is a former US Navy pilot with service in Vietnam and is retired from the US Navy Reserve at the rank of Commander.

Captain Davidson holds a US FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, has over 18,500 hours of accident-free flight time and was a qualified Captain and TRE on the A320 aircraft. He was selected as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2009.
